JU and Mercer Face Off in A-Sun/CSS Game of the Week

Red-hot Jacksonville will travel north to face long-time rival Mercer at the University Center in the A-Sun/CSS Game of the Week on Friday night. Scheduled for a 7:30 ET tip-off, the game will be called by Matt Stewart and Sonny Smith.

The Dolphins have won six of their last seven games including three straight behind the play of their dynamic freshman class. With JU’s sweep of ETSU and Kennesaw State, the Dolphins earned their 13th win of the season and have matched the 1992-93 squad for best single-season turnaround in school history (The 1992-93 went 17-11 after going 5-22 in 1991-92).

JU doesn’t have the market cornered on young talent as Mercer will feature the A-Sun’s leading scorer, freshman James Florence. In his last Game of the Week appearance, Florence scored 36 points to lift Mercer past Stetson. Florence leads the A-Sun in scoring and joins Texas superstar Kevin Durant as the only freshmen to pace their conference. The guard is second behind Durant among freshmen scorers in the NCAA.

Don't forget to catch the pre-game action as Stewart and Smith host This Week in the Atlantic Sun, the league's 30-minute magazine show.
