Tuesday, January 02, 2007 JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Henry Harris made a 3-pointer with 1:36 left in overtime to give Belmont a 75-74 victory Tuesday night over ETSU in a battle of Atlantic Sun unbeatens at the Memorial Center. Defending league champion Belmont (9-5, 3-0) scored five points in the last 2:02 for the win. Courtney Pigram missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the Buccaneers (8-7, 2-1). East Tennessee was leading 74-70 on a tip-in by Andrew Reed with 2:43 left. Belmont's Andrew Preston made a jumper with 2:02 left to cut it to 74-72. Neither team scored in the last 1:34 of regulation after Belmont's Justin Hare tied it 70-70 with a layup. Reserve Boomer Herndon led the Bruins' balanced scoring with 15 points, hitting 7-of-9 from the floor. Hare had 14 points, Preston 13 and a team-high 8 rebounds, and Matthew Dotson and Harris 10 points each. |
