Rockies Select Brothers with the 34th pick of MLB Draft

SECAUCUS, N.J. - Lipscomb's Rex Brothers became the Atlantic Sun's second draft choice of the Major League Baseball's 2009 First-Year Player Draft when Colorado picked the junior with the 34th pick of the draft
In 2009, Brothers, compiled a 5-5 record with a 3.26 ERA. He struck out 132 batters in only 94.0 innings, the eighth-highest single-season strikeout total in A-Sun history. He ranks fifth in the NCAA in strikeouts. The junior earned a spot on the All-Atlantic Sun's First Team.
The Shelbyville, Tenn., native joins Kennesaw State's Chad Jenkins among A-Sun pitchers picked in the top 40, marking the first time the conference has seen multiple players selected that high in any one draft.
The Rockies selected another pitcher, Tyler Matzek with their first-round selection .
