SECAUCUS, N.J. - Chad Jenkins became the Atlantic Sun's seventh first-round choice as the Toronto Blue Jays chose the junior pitcher with the 20th pick of the Major League Baseball's 2009 First-Year Player Draft.

In 2009, Jenkins, compiled a 8-1 record with a 2.54 ERA. He struck out 98 in 92.0 innings. He earned three A-Sun Pitcher of the Week awards including two during April when he compiled a 41.0-inning scoreless streak. Following the season, he earned the conference's Pitcher of the Year award and was named a Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I Third Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball.

The Canton, Ga. native is the highest choice for an A-Sun student-athlete since Oakland selected Stetson's Bryan Snyder with the 26th pick in 2003 draft.

The last pitcher selected by the Blue Jays in the first round was Ricky Romero in 2005.
