Lilly Pads Stats in Winning Second Weekly Honor
|

MACON, Ga. – Campbell made a move to secure its berth in the next month’s Atlantic Sun Baseball Championship by taking two of three from in-state rival Gardner-Webb, led by the pitching of Justin Lilly and the base running of Brandon Scott. The duo became the second set of teammates to sweep the conference’s Player of the Week awards, the league office announced on Monday.
Lilly dominated yet again as he threw his second consecutive complete-game, ten-strikeout performance in a vital game two against Gardner-Webb. The senior from Raleigh, N.C. scattered eight hits and allowed just two runs in nine innings pitched. In addition to his ten-strikeout performance, Lilly put an exclamation point on his day by striking out the side in the ninth inning. Campbell stands 6-2 when Lilly takes the mound as the Camels' starter. Over his last two starts, Lilly, a business administration major, registered 20 strikeouts in 18 innings and lowered his ERA from 6.92 to 5.34. He enters the week ranked fourth in the A-Sun in innings pitched (60.2) and eighth in strikeouts (48).
Scott, a native of Robersonville, N.C., had an incredible A-Sun series lifting Campbell to a series victory over Gardner-Webb, most notably in game three. In that single game, Scott went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs scored, three RBI and four stolen bases. On the week Scott hit .450 (9-for-20) with four doubles, a home run, six RBI, six stolen bases and five runs scored. Scott, a physical education major, ranks second in the conference with 25 stolen bases (one off the league-lead) and owns 70 career stolen bases. He is three away from breaking Campbell's all-time stolen bases record.
The Atlantic Sun Conference is a 12-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship. Headquartered in Macon, Ga., the A-Sun encompasses six of the top eight media markets in the Southeast.
