MACON, Ga. - Following the lead of Belmont's Derek Wiley, a second Atlantic Sun student-athlete has earned honors in a summer-league All-Star game. USC Upstate's Kyle Bowley was named the Offensive Player of the game in the Coastal Plains All-Star game, held Tuesday in Columbia, S.C.

Bowley entered the game in the sixth inning and immediately stroked a ground-rule double, scoring the second of what would be a five-run inning for he National CPL All-Stars. One inning late, Bowley singled in the final run of a 9-3 win for the National All-Stars. He finished the night 2-for-3 with two runs batted in.

One day earlier, Bowley competed in the Home Run Derby and advanced to the finals before falling to Mike Lyon.

Three members of the Campbell Camels joined Bowley on the National All-Stars squad. Justin Lilly was the starting pitcher; he went 2.0 innings and allowed two runs. Lilly, who ranks tied for second in the league in strikeouts with 52, struck out three in his brief stint on the mound. Rob Lyerly started the game at third bases and went 1-for-2 with a run scored. The third Camel in starting lineup for the National All-Stars Brandon Scott went 0-for-2 at the plate.

On Sunday, nine student-athletes from five Atlantic Sun schools took part in the Florida Collegiate Summer League. Six of the nine played for the winning Blue team including two of the starting nine. Mercer's Tyler McCarty started at second base and went 1-for-2. Hitting one spot behind McCarty, Jacksonville's Matt Lopez went 0-for-2. Off the bench, North Florida's Ryan Lowe went 1-for-2.

<> A trio from Stetson aided the Blue squad. David Burns and Jonathan Turner eached pitched out of the Blue bullpen. Burns pitched the sixth and allowed a run on one hit. Turner pitched the eighth and allowed an unearned run. Catcher Paul Fibbe entered the game in the sixth inning and went 0-for-2.

<> The Red team was represented by three players from three schools. Florida Gulf Coast's Jason Peacock started at first base and went 1-for-2. UNF's Andrew Hannon entered the game at third base in the sixth inning and went 0-2. The one A-Sun pitcher on the Red team was USC Upstate's Blake Marsocci. He finished the game for the Red All-Stars, recording a strikeout against the one batter he faced.

All-Star games for the Southern Collegiate Baseball League, New England Collegiate Baseball League and Cape Cod Baseball League will be contested later this month.
