Conference Play opens in Baseball as Owls Host Camels

MACON, Ga. - Conference play kicks off early with the preseason favorite of the A-Sun coaches, Kennesaw State, hosting the lone unbeaten, Campbell, starting with a single game Friday night and a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

The Camels have come out smoking, scoring at least 10 runs in all five games this year. Zach Johnson paces the way with .706 average, three home runs and 13 RBI. Ellis Lowe, Ryan Hamme and Chris Bangi have all scored at least 10 runs.

The Owls opened 2009 with four games against former A-Sun members, Samford and Troy, picking up their lone victory in a 12-5 win in 10 innings against Samford. The Owls will throw Atlantic Sun Preseason Pitcher of the Year Kyle Heckathorn in the series. In his 2009 debut he went 5.0 innings against Samford, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four.
