MACON, Ga. - As summer baseball leagues around the nation have moved beyond the halfway point in the season and enter the stretch run, a number of A-Sun student-athletes landed spots as All-Stars in their respective leagues.
Here is a league-by-league look at the A-Sun baseball players worthy of the title "All-Star."
Northwoods League
John Atteo, UNF (So. - P - St. Cloud River Bats) - The left-hander is 6-2 and sports a 2.68 ERA as a nine-game starter for the River Bats.
Jimmy Stanley, Bel (Jr. - P - Thunder Bay Border Cats) - Stanley is tied for the NWL with 11 saves and owns a team-low 0.58 ERA.
Nate Woods, Bel (Fr. - P - Thunder Bay Border Cats) - The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native is 3-1 on the hill with a seventh-best 1.89 ERA in the NWL.
Derek Wiley, Bel (Jr. - INF - Thunder Bay Border Cats) - Wiley leads the Border Cats in RBI (37) and home runs (6).
Josh Upchurch, FGCU (Jr. - OF - Alexandria Beetles) - The speedy outfielder leads the league with 22 stolen bases and is second on the team with 49 hits.
Chris Sale, FGCU (Fr. - P - La Crosse Loggers) - The lefty is third in the NWL in strikeouts (60), having pitched only 45.0 innings.
Coastal Plain League
Mikel Alvarez, FGCU (Fr. - INF - Wilmington Sharks) - Alvarez has driven in a team-high 28 RBI and claims the team's second-best batting average (.311)
Daniel Wagner, Bel (So. - INF - Asheboro Copperheads) - The sophomore boasts the second-highest batting average in the league at .345 while leading the team in RBI (30), hits (65), and doubles (13).
Florida Collegiate Summer League
Patrick Nathanson, FGCU (So. - P - Winter Park Diamond Dawgs) - Nathanson is 5-1 with a 1.44 ERA for Winter Park.
Ty Pryor, UNF (Jr. - P - Winter Park Diamond Dawgs) - The Osprey carries a 2.27 ERA for the Dawgs to go along with a 2-3 record in eight appearances.
Robert Collier, UNF (Fr. - OF - Clermont Mavericks) - The freshman leads the team in stolen bases (8) and is hitting at a .290 clip.
New England Collegiate Baseball League
Paul Hoilman, ETSU (Fr. - INF - North Adams Steeple Cats) - Hoilman leads the team with 27 RBI and is hitting .222.
Valley Baseball League
Tucker Pryor, UNF (So. - P - Front Royal Cardinals) - Pryor owns the ninth-best ERA in the Valley (2.96). He has thrown two complete games (tied for the league-lead) and owns a 3-4 record on the hill.
Southern Collegiate Baseball League
Bart Roark, ETSU (Fr. - INF - Tennessee Tornado) - Paces the Tennessee Tornado with a .385 average. He collected a pair of hits in five at bats in the All-Star game
