FORT MYERS, Fla. - Rob Quaintance knows that one of his main jobs as the Florida Gulf Coast University point guard is to get people the ball so they can score.
So it should surprise no one that on three of the five 3-pointers he made against Stetson, he was looking for other people first before he shot.
“Originally, I was looking for someone,” said Quaintance, who had a career-high 17 points in the 70-62 loss.
“But they were slacking off me and glued to the other guys, so I hit the shots.”
It’ll be interesting to see if the Eagles will need his shooting when they entertain Mercer tonight in an Atlantic Sun Conference game at Alico Arena.
FGCU has struggled to score lately. The Eagles have not topped 70 points in their last eight games. They rank 10th in the league in scoring, at 62.1 points per game.
